Sunday 10th November saw members of the local area and community gather in the City Centre to commemorate the Remembrance Service of 2024, made possible by the Tri Services & Veterans Support Centre.
While Remembrance Day serves as a powerful annual reminder, the work of the Tri Services Veterans Support Centre goes on throughout the year - Since opening orginally in October 2023, the Tri Services & Veterans Support Centre has seen over 20,000 people through their doors, providing a hub for veterans in need and has extensive links with local services and businesses. They are determined to ensure that veterans are valued every day, not just on a single day of remembrance. Their partnership stands as a reminder that the spirit of remembrance is also about action, kindness, and inclusion. It’s about ensuring that veterans have the resources they need to lead fulfilling lives after service and that the community around them remains engaged and grateful.
As the Stoke-on-Trent City Centre Business Improvement District (BID), we have been proud supporters and champions for this award winning charity since their move to the City Centre of winter 2023 - which has resulted in a unique and highly appreciated relationship. Throughout the year, the BID sponsors and supports Tri Services' initiatives, raising awareness of veteran-specific issues within the business community and encouraging local enterprises to employ and support veterans in meaningful ways.
"The support Stoke-on-Trent BID have given Tri Services & Veterans Support Centre has been incredible, from helping with the food banks, gifts for families, the phenomenal support around Armed Forces Day, helping us to raise funds by providing refreshments following the Remembrance Sunday and supporting out Christmas Market...there aren't enough words to express what this amount of support has meant for the charity. Thank you to every one of you for all the hard work you do to make the City Centre a great place to visit" - Tracey from the Hanley branch.
The Veterans Support Centre will also be a key location for the Christmas Food Bank & Toy Collection for December 2024, as we provide businesses willing to help local food bank for Christmas distrubution.
Our relationship with this charity and others alike are invaluble to the City Centre as we share a goal to continue to support the people of the local and wider area of Stoke-on-Trent.
