Following consultations with City Centre businesses through meetings, interactive workshops, questionnaires and stakeholder collaboration, a set of priorities was formed for the Business Improvement District to focus on during its five-year term, based on feedback and identification of the issues the area faces. The BID is tasked to serve City Centre businesses by focusing on driving improvements and connecting with the business community. As such, emerging priorities came under three main categories: Place Management, Place Marketing and Business Community Support. The BID continues to do this in its second 5 year term from 2023-2028.
Place Management focuses on projects to deliver a safer, more welcoming environment such as the appointment of Street Ambassadors and improving the look and feel of the area through clean sweeps and art projects.
Place Marketing focuses on projects to improve perceptions of the City Centre, engage visitors, encourage exploration of the city and increase dwell time through various events and initiatives.
Business Community Support focuses on projects to create a strong, collaborative network of businesses through networking and training opportunities.
It is of paramount importance that all work undertaken by the BID must link to the three priorities; they form the basis for the BID’s strategy and are the ultimate aims for the outcome of the BID. To help shape the actions for these priorities, three Advisory Groups were set up and they meet on a quarterly basis. Any levy payer is invited to attend to contribute constructive ideas, thoughts and advice.
