The exhibition, created in conjunction with the Stoke-on-Trent City Centre BID, will be the opportunity for the public to see a display of skips that have been transformed by ten talented artists into extraordinary works of art as part of the Brown Recycling Skip Art Challenge.

What is the Brown Recycling Skip Art Challenge?
The Skip Art Challenge is a new and innovative sustainability and art project launched by Brown Recycling, with 10 selected artists being commissioned to transform ten refurbished skips into their individual creative design. Artists from across the region were invited to submit a skip design for consideration by a judging panel. The judges selected ten designs from more than 55 entries received, with the commissioned artists working to bring their designs to life at Brown Recycling’s premises during August. Each skip and the paint supplies have been sponsored by a range of local businesses and suppliers to Brown Recycling. The Skip Art Challenge is also supporting a local cause with proceeds going to the Dougie Mac Hospice.
The completed skips will become part of the Brown Recycling skip fleet and be seen across Staffordshire and South Cheshire.

The Skip Art Challenge Exhibition
With designs from abstract bursts of colour to messages about recycling and being joyful, the ten completed skips will be on display at the Skip Art Challenge Exhibition running down Piccadilly in Hanley from Wednesday 4th September to Sunday 8th September. The event will open from 5.00pm on Wednesday 4th September, with many of the artists in attendance, live music and the opportunity to learn more about recycling. Brown Recycling and Stoke-on-Trent BID are delighted to invite everyone to the opening eventor to come and view the completed skips over the following days.

Mitch Brown, Co-Managing Director at Brown Recycling commented:

“We were excited to launch the Brown Recycling Skip Art Challenge, and to commission ten talented artists to transform our skips with their creative designs. The finished skips are all fantastic. We’re delighted that people will have the chance to see them all at the Exhibition along Piccadilly and hope as many as possible will come along and enjoy this colourful and fun display. It’s also great to be able to support Dougie Mac. They do such great work for those with life limiting conditions, and we are always happy to do our bit to help their fundraising.”
